Smart Idea: The Netflix Prize

As usual, I seem to find the most cool things from c.l.l (with maybe the exception of programming.reddit.com and anarchaia.org). I this is a very smart idea: Netflix Prize: Review Rules. Apart from the interesting problem area, I think it’s a good business decision to make something of a “ugly problem” that you’re trying to solve, put a price on it and let the solutions trickle in, and pick what you want. Neat. Who says only your employees need to come up with the best solutions?
